Intro.

Being a first time expecting mother, I have suffered through the first trimester with little to no exercise due to morning dry-heaving, followed by a bland taste that has found residence in my mouth and refuses to leave no matter what I eat, be it fruit, veggies, or meat. I do find Sour Rowntrees to be helpful and well as sweet and sour plums from the Asian grocery store.
Prior to getting pregnant, I made sure I got myself into the best shape of my life, I worked out 5-6 days a week and did lots of yoga, and strength training. I focused mainly on my core, and strengthening my upper back, and did plenty of squats. I know it’s a bit selfish but I wanted a nice flat tummy before a baby took residence and expanded it to unimaginable proportions.
If you are active, you can continue with most activities you were involved prior to getting pregnant. Doctors do recommend staying away form contact sports. So, I had to give up boxing, just to be on the safe side.
For those who haven't started a program prior to conceiving, you can still be active. I would definitely recommend yoga, pilates, and swimming. I will post exercises in the coming weeks. Please make sure you get your doctor's clearance before you begin any portion of the programs I list and be completely honest in discussing any possible conditions you may have or that run in your family.
The main focus for all mummies besides the health of our baby is the health the mummy. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I will sharing it with you.
